OK, I’ll just come out and let the cat out of the bag: Elton John will be playing the Bob Carpenter Center on March 10 in a show presented by Live Nation.
In what might be the weirdest show since Bob Dylan played Kahunaville, Sir Elton will rock out at the University of Delaware’s basketball arena in Newark.
Tickets go on sale Friday through Ticketmaster and the University of Delaware box

The Cubs started off the 2008 Baseball season with a victory over the Class AA San Fransico Giants. I hope this continues, but I will reserve judgment until a later date. On the to the Highlights: Ryan Theriot - The “Riot” turns in a 3-for-3 day and scores three times. If he does that lets say to the clip of a .300 average, we will be just fine. Kusake Fukudome - The Dome’s a perfect 1-for-1, NL MVP here we come…. Felix Pie - The “Pie Maker” is o…

Funny how the mind works. Sometimes it just makes associations whether you want it to or not. And now that I’ve read the feature article on Google’s Marissa Mayer in San Francisco magazine, the images from that profile are etched into my mind whenever I think of Google, or even go to Google’s gaggle of sites, services, and features. There is now continuity between Marissa, Google and me. These are actually quite pleasant, floating images of a lower Market Street aerie, with purple walls and the home-spun smell of vanilla-laced cupcakes (supported lovingly by pleated paper). There’s laughter, intense intelligence, privilege with a purpose, a subdued sensuality, a hammer-hold on the zeitgeist. Here’s a gal with the whole package to…

I refused to devote an entire evening to the Grammys, so I put my TiVo into overdrive late last night and here are a few thoughts after scanning through the show:
– Kanye West. He has a great ability to make me love him one moment and hate him the next. I try to tell myself that his Muhammad Ali-like cockiness is an act, but I fear he really is an ass. When he performed “Stronger,” he scored

…literally:
Scientists are priming two spacecraft to slam into the moon’s South Pole to see if the lunar double whammy reveals hidden water ice.
The Earth-on-moon violence may raise eyebrows, but NASA’s history shows that such missions can yield extremely useful scientific observations.
“I think that people are apprehensive about it because it seems violent or crude, but it’s very economical,” said Tony Colaprete, the principal investigator for the mission at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, Calif.
In the event that shooting the moon fails, we can always nuke it. You can sign a petition to nuke the moon here.
(A search for “nuke the moon” in google produces interesting results. For example, the Air Force actually constructed plans to nuke the moon during the 1950s — and Carl Sagan participated!)
